Legacy Studio Collection, Bandolier Holster with Dragoon Pistols

At Vigil-Musick Cowboy Leather Gear Ltd., we have created the heirloom Legacy Studio Collection. These are each unique and limited articles you will find no where else. This exquisite piece is a double bandolier & holster set uniquely designed for a specific historic replica firearm pair made by A. Uberti S.p.A., Italy.

 This fully hand carved leather rig features Spanish American southwestern styling, with real Silver plated furniture that is hand engraved by fellow cowboy artist silversmiths. 

 -HISTORY & LEGACY OF THIS PIECE-

This unique Limited Edition bandolier holster set was custom designed by our company to fit a specific heavy pistol built in late 1847 called the "Whitneyville Transitional".  The original famous 1847 Colt Walker, was the first side arm model commissioned by Capt. Sam Walker of the Texas Rangers in Jan. 1847. The "1847 Walker" was given to Walker to test by Colt Arms Mfg.  Walker and his men used the '47 Walker for one year in the field of battle.

On their return, (Capt. Walker was killed in battle in 1847 ) requirements came for a lighter version of the original 1847 model as it was too big and heavy. This gave birth to the "Whitneyville Hartford Dragoon Transitional" which we offer here today. It was a Dragoon pistol and was a revised pistol version of the original Colt Walker model '47, but lighter and had a few upgrade details as requested.

"Transitional" references the Whitneyville model being interim from the Walker 1847 model, and later conversions that became known as the "1st, 2nd and 3rd Dragoons". Today original Whitneyville pistols known in existence, are about 15. They are very highly sought after by collectors. This replica set is perfected in every detail by A. Uberti, S.p.A. Italy.

The Whitneyville Transitional  pistols are heavy at 4 lbs. each. They were termed "horse pistols" as they were often carried on a saddle mounted holster. A pair of these typically would not be comfortable as a hip holster twin set. With this Dragoon holster design however, it is combined to include both holsters and bandelier traces to afford the weight of these two beauties, yet keep them both mounted on the hip for close reach.
